On May 23, 2016, Chief of Police Mark Barnett signed Temporary Traffic Control Order Nos. 142-A and 143-A
Since these Temporary Traffic Control Orders went into effect, the City has received one complaint about not being able to drive through the forested portion of Cartier Park. The City Council would like to obtain the public’s input on whether it prefers to have this road closed to vehicular traffic all year or only in the winter.

Also, why are there more and more bike trails being put in in the woods in Cartier Park. A few are fine. However, the entire area is being marked for bike trails. Many of us like to walk our dogs, or just walk, those trails. It's dangerous to have so many bicyclists, who do not pay much attention to walkers, zooming around in the woods. I have been a user of Cartier Park, or as we call it in our neighborhood Bryant Woods, since we moved into our house in 1978. I love the dog park, the paved walking/biking trails and even the new bike trails in the woods. But, please keep in mind that the bikers are not the only people who enjoy walking in the woods. Thank you,

Foster Middle School could easily become a community rec center to help residents have better & more convenient access to classes, activities, & sports. See articles below & examples of turning old schools into rec centers. Residents could pay for memberships + class fees to help fund. I'm especially concerned as we are closing on a house across the street from Foster at the end of the summer. I truly hope Foster can become an opportunity to continue to improve the neighborhood.

The Ludington City Council is considering creating a policy to regulate special-event signs in the City’s right-of-way or in that area generally located between the sidewalk and curb.
1. Do you feel that the frequency of special-event signs in the area between the sidewalk and curb has been: A) too frequent; B) about right; or C) no opinion?
2. Do you feel that the number of special-event signs per block between the sidewalk and curb has been: A) too many; B) about right; or C) no opinion?
3. In order to strike a balance between having the signs provide the public w/ awareness of special events, many of which raise funds for local organizations, & addressing the concern that signs can “clutter” the area, what recommendations would you make to address this?
4. Do you have any other concerns about this issue that you would like the City Council to consider?
Please return your responses to John Shay via regular mail, e-mail (jshay@ci.ludington.mi.us), or drop them off at City Hall

With beach parking at a premium during the summer months this would allow residents with golf carts to be assured of parking space as residents. By not driving it would open up more parking spots for cars. Since they are golf carts parking just in the northern and southern most grass areas would not be unreasonable. Area could be created by snow fence and wouldn't limit use of park area.

The dog beach as of now is a tiny corner. So many people travel w dogs. I wondered if it is at all possible to allow the beach area SOUTH of the North pier could be used so families can spend a beach day w their dogs. My husband and I walk daily and notice very rarely used by beach goers seeing how large our gorgeous Stearns Park Beach is. We don’t have a dog but our sons do. We took our Golden Retriever grand dog to Butterville beach. It’s not clean, on a hill and this area in Ludington south of the pier would be great. It’s not huge but perfect for several families snd their dogs to spend time together. It is near the playground as well. Thank you for your time!

And I have spoken to not only Walmarts but to other Truckers who come and use our roads we don't have a facility for them to get fuel and park their trucks overnight we have lots of vehicles coming up 31 and continue on 31 towards Manistee and us 10 . I see that more Mason County is growing and more trucks are coming up I believe in between Pere Marquette Township and Amber Township on US 10 between the highway and US 31 and US 10 there is open land some of it's commercial why can't we put a truck stop an area where we can take our trucks and put a parking area I hear people complain that the semis that are parked at Walmart is an eyesore I seen and I believe the lumberyard that is on us 10 between Scottville and Ludington maybe going out of business just using that as an example of a place that could be turned into a truck stop I believe the more Ludington grows and Mason County grows the more semis and tractor trailers

Ludington needs to have taxpayer-funded lifeguards on the beach during the summer months when lots of families with young kids go to the lake. The untimely death of Albrianna Huck should have been a wake-up call. We need to bring lifeguards back to the beach. Our city makes lots of revenue in the summer, and a human life is priceless. We have enough money to pay for lifeguards so that no one has to lose a friend, classmate, family member, student, or child to a preventable riptide drowning ever again. Let’s make sure Albrianna didn’t die in vain.

We are fairly new to the area and we live near a house that is a habitat for Nuisance pests including skunks and feral cats. It's not Animal Controls' issue as they deal with domestic animals and it's expensive to bring in someone to trap these animals. The owners don't live at this house and it's dilapidated, so many things live in a broken down shed or under a broken deck and it's an eye sore. When we called the office, they don't have an ordinance to do anything about it. I'd like to see an ordinance created to either have these animals trapped at owners expense or have them tear down the areas that are dilapidated so those animals can't reside there.
